If this sometimes shit, sometimes cool Prairie semi-metropolis has a penchant for anything, it's for consistently producing quality brain-burning death music. In recent years, most followers of Winnipeg Hardcore, within the city and around North America, have had a special place in their heart (a place of love or hate) for Burn Your World. Since 2011, they’ve captured the souls of pits across the continent with a projects like Forced to Hate and a split tape with Floods. After a 4 year hiatus from full-length projects, they’ve put out a record that is sure to make people either cower in fear or want to repeatedly run into their friends at full-force. A BURDEN, FOR ALL YOUR DAYS is a 5 song EP, and it’s incredible. Possessed Records describes the project best:
“OH MAN LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS HERE EP. THIS EP IS 5 TRACKS OF BRUTAL CAVE MAN MOSH. IT’S SO HEAVY IT'LL TURN [YOU] INTO A KNUCKLEDRAGGING MOSH MUTANT ONLY SECONDS INTO THE OPENING RIFF. PREPARE TO LOSE YOUR MIND. HEAVIEST HARDCORE EP OF 2016. FOR FANS OF CROWBAR AND FOUNDATION”.
Joel and Chad (guitarist and drummer of BYW, respectively) stopped by The Enemy’s downtown hideaway to talk about the album and a bunch of other shit. The first half of the interview covers the start and development of the band, the challenges of touring and tour stories, street justice tales, and more. Bassist Dylan Hunter also calls in later on, and we speak on the ubiquitous Adam Dyson, similarities between trap and hardcore, auras, souls, hated words, and much more. Enjoy Ryan’s awkward fumbling and some exclusive insight from the beloved mosh monsters of Burn Your World.
A special thank you to Buffalo Bill for the intro and outro. Listen to Burn Your World's latest EP below and check out the official release party on Saturday, November 12 at the Handsome Daughter.
