ON THE MAKING OF ALVERSTONE AND MORE
At the close of 2016 we were afforded the privilege of talking to E.GG (a.k.a. eggnmx a.k.a. Raphael) about one of our favourite projects of the year, Alverstone. It's auteur crafts a venerable tale of life in the West End that, to those close to him, exudes the realest and illest feelings one experiences through adolescence and early adulthood. To all else, the project runs as a wondrous novella that pulls influence from media like 70s Scorsese, 90s Nasty Nas and beyond, and mixes with E.GG's own sauce, and his super-talented cohort of producers, artists, and friends.
This was the first interview E.GG gave after releasing his tape, and was originally recorded December 2nd, 2016. With the album fresh in his mind, we spoke at length, in a stream-of-consciousness style, on the creation and thoughts behind Alverstone, as well as stories from the recklessness of youth, some of his own musical philosophies, and much more.
